Elliot Stats

So we had Elliot's 18month checkup this morning, and he's doing good.

Height: 31 3/4" 25% (but he was scrunching his neck so I think he's 32" )

Weight: 23# 15oz 30% (whew- thank goodness he gained weight this time!)

Head: 47.2cm 20% ( he has a small head like his daddy)

The doctor was impressed with him and said he could be in an LLBean magazine he's so cute ( I just love our doctor) - we talked about what to feed the little guy - I was worried I should buy all organic stuff, but after a $250 grocery bill, Aaron thought maybe not - and the doctor said food is food, just make sure he eats - which sounds like good advice to me. I even confessed to feeding him McDonalds and sugary treats- and he didn't condemn me! Elliot had to get one more flu shot, and he was a champ as usual about it. Now he's sleeping soundly in his room - mainly because he was up half the night last night - I think from the chilli I gave him for dinner -the kid loves beans :)

So it really is hard to believe he's 18 months old. I know everyone says it will fly by, but I distinctly remember thinking "I doubt it" somewhere around the sleep deprived 6 month mark. But here we are a year later, still not really sleeping, but more so than a year ago. Its amazing to watch him learn, he has such a good grasp of concepts. The other day we were reading a book, and he kept stopping me to point out where the objects were in our house, he has started to remember colors, and knows most of his shapes, talks to me about daddy going bye bye in the car to work, and expresses his opinions on clothes, food, toys and pretty much everything :)
He is stubborn when he wants to be, but really very good natured and sweet. He loves to cuddle, and gives kisses all the time (especially if he thinks he's going to get a time out). I see a lot of Aaron in him. He seems to have an independent nature, but loves other kids, especially older kids, and LOVES his daddy. All weekend it was "dada" "dada" ...poor Aaron even had to shower with Elliot! He's started to be more timid around new people and places, but usually warms up after a few minutes, so not too shy. And if given the chance, he will run off far away from mommy in any shopping mall, grocery store, etc, with out a second glance in my direction. He loves to help with adult tasks - laundry, dishes, setting the table, mopping, vacuuming - and is good about helping to pick up his toys when I ask. Really, I can't believe how much he's grown and learned in 18 months! It's amazing- and I am so glad I can be here for it all.
