Meal time

Pictures from "Christmas" morning, which we celebrated on the 26th, and 4 month old Abbie!

They grow so quickly the first year, and just to prove she will not be stationary forever, Abbie rolled over last weekend from her belly to her back. She likes her belly, and she also is trying desperately to follow her big brother as she kicks and rolls and squirms around, all the while making noises. This is not a quiet house anymore - those days past this summer with Elliot finding his voice - and the degrees of sound he can make, and Abbie seems to be a talker from the get go. The doctor's visit went well, she is now 2 feet tall - 25-50%, and 14lbs 14oz - 75-90%. Evidence of the cute little chubby tummy in the picture above!

This makes me so happy :) I'm a mom and as every mom knows, one of our main jobs is feeding children. And the feeding is never easier then when they are babies - milk and lots of it whenever they want, so easy! Especially compared to the 3 times a day I sit down at the table with Elliot and try ever so hard to get something of nutritional value into his tummy. I thought last year was a bit challenging, but since he has turned two- he definitely has an opinion, and that opinion clashes quite strongly with mine, on almost every front. Vegetables- the standard by which any self respecting mother will rate her overall feeding skills - are hated by pretty much every toddler i know. Elliot is no exception, and thus I have given in to marketing and bought a bag of $4 "veggie crisps" which look a lot like potato chips but promise to supply your child with one serving of vegetables a day. I think every mom worries about what their kids are eating - and my fear is that they will be too skinny and perish from starvation at some point. This due to the fact that neither my husband or I broke the 100lb mark until well into our junior year of high school. I know friends who are worried about the opposite, but right now I would love to have a child who enjoyed food. Elliot could take it or leave it and does go for days at a time surviving on grapes and goldfish. So the fact that Abbie has a belly makes me smile, and I can only hope that she likes to eat (like her mother, dad is quite picky, ahem) - and will scarf down spinach like its chocolate! Elliot will keep getting dinner plates with green veggies on them, and hopefully one of these days he will eat them with out theatrics :)

Daddy's defense: I broke 100 lbs. my freshman year, thank-you-very-much and I eat just about anything. I do so hope that Abbie is a big eater though, as our test with rice cereal this week may indicate that she is. My fingers are crossed :)

That was oh so true Heather! I'm so glad Abbie is eating well and she's just so adorable in all the pics!!! Elianna is eating us out of house and home...who knows how much she weighs these days?! She wants EVERYTHING I eat, even when she's just eaten her share. Joel on the other hand has been Mr. Picky..esp. the last couple of weeks. UG! But we keep trying, don't we. One day...

Such cute pictures -- I love their matching pj's! Elliot and Abbie are as sweet as can be! As far as vegies go, have you tried "hiding" them in cheese sauce? I figure just about anyone will eat vegetables (like cauliflower or broccoli) if they're covered with enough cheese sauce :-)

Happy New Year you guys!

Love,
Shauna

Oh my gosh, they are the cutest! I can't wait to see you guys again and meet little Abbie. Hope you are all back to normal after the holidays. By the way, while Matt was gone I got this cookbook (Deceptively Delicious) that has all kinds of vegetables hidden in all kinds of foods. You might be able to sneak some in without Elliot knowing. :)
Love ya,
Kathy
