one

Whenever I get stopped by someone in the store, it is always the same thing- "oh look at all that hair! how old Is she? Oh, goodness, she looks so much older!" And its true, Abbs, you look and act a bit older than your just one year old self. I kind of feel like you were a baby until about 6 months, and then you turned into a little girl. There really is no doubting what you want ever- your emotions are on your sleeve, and you are vocal - you haven't mastered speech yet- but you know how to get your point across. It's cute, and a bit scary, and lord knows reminds your daddy of someone he married. So- at one...you laugh and play hard, climb everything- like from the step stool to the potty and kept going to the top of the bowl in a matter of seconds. You love being surprised and chased by daddy, and you and your brother are having more fun interactions and even some quiet play time together (hallelujah). You love to eat. When I call you and Elliot to dinner, you come running and go straight to your high chair. You can follow simple commands like- get your diaper, shoes, pants. And know what to do if I say it's bath time (go to the bath), or that we are going bye bye (head to the front door). you are obsessed with putting clothes on- you enjoy trying on pants, underwear, shoes and hats over and over again. You also like to meticulously take every toy out of a toy bin and then move on to the next one. You love doing somersaults and will stand on your head until someone helps push you over. You love toothbrushes- its your favorite teether. You love getting kisses, but haven't figured out how to return them yet- but you give a mean bear hug. Your belly is so round I have bought 2T pants, and they are still too tight and about 4 inches too long- so we're back to leggings and stretchy pants for now. You have a thing for boys- loved your cousin Finn and Elliot's friends and even smiled at the butcher so much he gave us two free hamburgers. But for the most part you are still very shy and clingy when we are around new people or places. So far you can say mama and dada, and I think you are trying to say dog but it sounds like a very loud "da"- you really like dogs and like to squat down, look them in the eye and then touch their noses and yell "da" at them. Not sure what that is all about, but I felt a bit sorry for Sheba. We had a great time celebrating your birthday, and you loved your cakes :) Happy birthday abbie girl.
